VA ABC- $99.99

Total Wine - $104.99

Class VI - $99.90

ABV - 52%!

AGE - ‘3 years minimum’

From the Total Wine website:  Jefferson's Tropics is aged in the equatorial humidity of Singapore. This allows the bourbon to interact with the wood and draw richer flavor from it, giving the liquid a dense, composition with an edgy sweetness and deep lushness.

Tasting notes from the Jefferson’s Distillery website:

Nose: Aromatic baking spices such as cinnamon and clove

Flavor: Notes of Bing cherry, toffee, and a hint of sea salt

Finish: Long, textured and full-bodied finish upon sipping

Thirty miles northeast of Louisville, the Jefferson Bourbon Distillery has been at the forefront of new, unusual bourbon distillations.  First, Jefferson’s Oceans rocked the whiskey world.  Barrels of fully-matured straight bourbon whiskey extra-aged aboard ships that sail the world's oceans.2

Now they’ve sent barrels of Jefferson's Tropics whiskey to Singapore to age in their punishing heat and humidity.3   Seems like it’d be cheaper and easier to just jack up the temp and humidity in their rick houses, but this is science, by golly!   No corners were cut.

Ingredients

4 parts spicy ginger beer

3 dashes Angostura® bitters

Lime wedge (for garnish)

Fill a highball glass or tumbler with ice. Add Jefferson’s and bitters and stir to combine.

Top off with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wedge and a dash of bitters.

Bonus Cocktail

Jefferson's Tropics Singapore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Cocktail

The cinnamon in this spiced old fashioned amplifies Jefferson’s Tropics’ bouquet of aromatic baking spices, which includes cinnamon and clove. At the same time, the bourbon’s flavors of Bing cherry, toffee, and sea salt balance the Angostura® bitters’ spice and the subtle sweetness of the sugar.

As with a classic old fashioned, the spiced old fashioned calls for a single large ice cube. This allows the drink to dilute slowly, letting you enjoy the warm, spiced notes of your cocktail for longer.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon sugar

3 dashes Angostura® bitters

Dash of cinnamon

1 teaspoon water

Orange peel (for garnish)

How to Make

Add sugar, bitters, cinnamon, and water to a rocks glass. Stir until everything is mostly dissolved.

Add the bourbon and a single large ice cube to the glass. Stir to combine.

Squeeze an orange peel over the drink to express the oils. Then, drop it in.
