From the VA ABC website:  Bushmill's Black Bush Irish whiskey combines a high amount of malt whiskey matured in former Oloroso Sherry casks, with a sweet, batch-distilled grain whiskey. Rich, fruity notes and a deep intense character, balanced by a unique smoothness. Enjoy neat or over ice!

I’m a big fan of Bushmills.  This expression takes an already-delicious whiskey and adds a sherry cask finish.  As we know, ‘finishing’ is when you complete the aging in a standard barrel so you can call it what it’s intended to be (like Irish Whiskey or bourbon) but then transfer the whiskey to another barrel for a few months to use what’s left in the barrel to affect your whiskey.  In this case, they used empty Oloroso Sherry casks.  Go to any liquor store and you’ll see many ‘finished’ versions of all your favorite whiskies.  Get a bottle of both and have a tasting.  You’ll see the difference and I’m confident you’ll

go back for other finished whiskies.
